I couldn’t believe it. I watched a movie from my youth that I thought was the best thing since sliced bread. And I watched it because I remembered it being fantastic. Mistake number one! Thinking what I thought was a good movie in my early teens isn’t going to hold much weight now. With me in my 30′s actually knowing what is good and what is shit.
Because it is classic 80′s. Its a slice of 80′s Hollywood martial arts classic cake.
It’s Karate Kid with actual reference to real Kung Fu.
It has Bruce Lee….(Or at least his ghost)
JCVD anyone? A Martial Arts sensation. OK he’s in it for 5 seconds but that’s beside the point, he still does the business. And even gets the splits in there during his brief appearance.
So. All these great pointers weighing in its favour. How could it fail?
I ask myself this question and (sigh). It just does. Fail that is. I urge people to watch it and tell me I’m wrong but unfortunately its shit and looks like I’ve only my memories that’ll keep this film good.
At least the trailer makes it look good. Watch this but please don’t blame me when you see the trailer and go out and watch the film.
